Freestyle Style of Snowboarding - Snowboarding in Style

The freestyle style of snowboarding might be called the "current flavor" of snowboarding. This doesn't mean that the freestyle style of snowboarding is going anywhere. The freestyle mode of snowboarding involves all the things that the freecarve style doesn't. This style focuses on jumps, half pipes, switch riding, rail slides, and every type of trick possible and imaginable.

This style of snowboarding is often the kind seen in snowboarding movies because this style is the most exciting to watch for most people, and displays the large jumps, twists, and tricks that act as great highlight clips, and as great recruiting videos.

As the freestyle style of snowboarding continues to get more and more popular, not only among pros, but also among would be pros, many resorts are now not only paying attention to ski slopes, but are also building and maintaining snowboarding parks where freestyle riders can find all the jumps, rails, and half pipes that they could possibly want.

Instead of a hard boot, the freestyle snowboarding boot is soft, allowing more movement and flexibility, and the freestyle snowboards tend to be shorter and smaller, making them more maneuverable than the larger ones.

These are just some of the general details of the boards, since not every freestyle snowboard is built the same way. There are general all purpose freestyle boards, but there are also specific snowboards designed especially for half pipe, or for rail slide. The downside to these "specialist" boards is that they're only really good for what they're designed for. They won't hold up well at anything else.

The most important snowboarding events are the freestyle style of competitions, which range from half pipe to the "big air" competitions often seen on the X-games. Many pros have made their reputations at big events such as these, and many credit the flashy exciting style of snowboarding as one of the major reasons the sport continues to grow strongly in popularity.
