Snowboarding is an extremely popular sport that attracts extreme sportsman. While the thrill of rushing down a hill at full speed is undeniable, a danger some snowboarders want to be wary of is frostbite, which can put a permanent damper on the fun level. Frostbite isn't a worry for the average or casual snowboarder, but if you like the extreme and weather won't stop you from hitting the slopes, then you will want to be prepared for any extreme cold.
The good news is that facemasks tend to be very affordable. For a mere $10-20 you should be able to afford a quality facemask that will protect you from the elements, even in extreme cold. Snowboarding masks are designed to cover the lower half of your face, so they fit comfortably around whatever snowboarding goggles you use.
The majority of snowboarding face masks are made from material like neoprene, fleece, or fleece neck. The design is intended so that no part of your skin is exposed to the extreme cold. These masks are absolutely essential when you are going into really extreme climates, like Alaska in the winter.
There are many different companies that make facemasks for snowboarders, and so you'll have a wide variety of choices, from basic lower face coverings, to facemasks that cover every part of your face other than your eyes.
Facemasks for snowboarders come in all sizes, from children's to large men. These masks protect against the temperatures and the elements, and are a major part of proper snowboarding equipment and clothing that all professional and amateur snowboarders alike will use to help brave the terrible weather.
If you're snowboarding on nicer days, then the frostbite issue probably isn't as big and the facemasks aren't as important - but that doesn't mean that they're still not a good idea.
Even on a seemingly nice day, a little extra protection is never anything to sneeze at. Keeping safe and warm while shredding the hills will make the days extra enjoyable!
