Shaun White: Young Snowboarding and Skateboarding Phenom

Shaun White may only be twenty-one years old, but he's already accomplished enough to be the envy of even other snowboarders and X-game participants. White is nicknamed "The Flying Tomato" because of his head of huge red hair and his incredible skills on the slopes.

Shaun was considered a professional snowboarder since he was 14 years old, and he's also a professional skateboarder, as well. He is the first athlete who managed to win gold at both the summer and the winter X-Games. Shaun has a lot of medals to show for his seven years as a pro. In the X-Games alone he has 12 total medals between the slopestyle and the superpipe, with 7 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals.

He has also won a gold medal in skateboarding, as well as the 2006 gold medal at the Winter Olympics, and the 2007 gold medal at the TTR World Snowboarding Tour. At this point, he's only one of two X-Games athletes to hold seven gold medals, meaning even well before he's hit the apex of his career; he is literally a living legend within the sport.

If skateboarding is actually added to the 2012 Olympics, White could be among the rare athletes who would be able to compete in both the summer and the winter Olympic Games. His popularity is so high that he even has a video game made after him: "Shaun White Snowboarding" for the X-Box 360.

The Flying Tomato has a huge group of sponsors, from corporations both directly related to snowboarding and even those who aren't. Some of the sponsors include Burton, Transworld Snowboarding, Mountain Dew, Target, and Red Bull, to name just a few from a much larger list.

Shaun White is an amazing athlete, and a living legend among snowboarders. His harvest of gold medals in the X-games snowboard slopestyle will be hard to match...especially with White staying around for years to come to defend it.
