Flow is a bit off mainstream as a snowboarding company since they aren't really known for their snowboards so much as they're known for snowboard bindings. Flow started in 1992 when Reinhardt Hansen quit windsurfing, believing there was room in the snowboarding industry for improved binding, and so what seemed like a strange obscure focus turned into one of the most respected snowboarding companies in the world.
The Flow company ended up changing the way snowboarding equipment was made, by creating better and better bindings that allowed for better control on snowboards. These designs allowed snowboarders to do more, while exerting less energy. This had a major effect on snowboarding, and the new designs also helped with convenience - since the new straps made it easier and faster to hook on and get going.
In 2002 Flow actually introduced snowboards for the first time, as well. Their initial group had 14 snowboards, making it possible to finally have Flow snowboards along with Flow snowboard boots and bindings.
Flow didn't rest on their laurels, but they continued to develop new features that helped to cushion pressure points and bring comfort to the snowboarders themselves while continuing to offer more and more control.
The company has come a long way since their first group of Flow snowboarding boots and snowboarding bindings were shown at an ISPO Sports Tradeshow way back in 1996. Interest was immediate, but the company would have to fight and scratch for every inch, and they would become one of the largest and most respected companies in the industry
One of the strongest points of the Flow company is that they don't settle for what they've accomplished. Every single year they have obvious improvements in their boards, their boots, and their bindings. This type of dedication to improving snowboarding equipment is what makes Flow one of the most respected snowboarding companies anywhere.
