Snowboard Bindings
How do I know whether I should switch Snowboard Bindings from
straps to step-ins?
(If you are looking for the brand Switch Snowboard
Bindings please see Bindings in the menu. This article is about
switching your snowboard bindings from straps to step-in!)
There can be as few hotly debated topics within the world of
Winter sports as whether or not to switch snowboard bindings from
strap bindings to step-in bindings. To help you, here are some
of the pro and cons with each:
The pros of using strap bindings include:
- The fact that the strap bindings and the ski boots are sold
independent of each other. Thus, any ski boot can go with any
strap binding that accommodates such binding. This gives you more
choice when looking to buy ski boots and strap bindings. It also
allows you to update either your boots or straps without necessarily
having to update both at the same time.
The cons of strap bindings include:
- The fact that strap bindings are more difficult to wear and
the task of putting them on and off each time you go on the ski
lift can get a bit tiresome.
- Switch Snowboard Bindings to step-in bindings
The pros of using step-in bindings include:
- The fact that step-in bindings are much easier (and quicker)
to wear: simply step-in or out of them.
The cons of step-in bindings include:
- That you don't have a lot of product range to chose from, and
they're (currently) the more expensive of the two types. Another
potential downside to step-in bindings is that they are felt to
be stiffer boots to wear. But, the upside of this is that some
believe that stiffer boots provide for a quicker response - so
this one's a tough call, as to whether it's a pro or con.
