Whether it's you that has just decided to take up this great new extreme sport of snowboarding, or whether you're looking for something for a loved one or friend, your first trip to the Snowboard Store can be a daunting one. Here then are what we hope will be some helpful hints for the first timer:
The first thing you have to decide is whether, at this time, you merely want to rent the item you're looking for or whether you actually want to go ahead and purchase it. Ordinarily renting is a sensible option to take if you still have not decided whether you are going to be an enthusiast in this sport.
Having decided to buy, you then need to decide whether you are going to purchase that new piece of snowboarding equipment from a, so-called, "real" store (possibly in the high street or shopping mall) or from one of available snowboard stores that can now be found online. Here all of the usual cautions should be taken. Which is not to say you shouldn't buy online - the fact is you can get some great deals online that you cannot get from a store, and visa-a-versa.
Deciding what style of snowboarding you want to do - freeride, freestyle or versatile - should influence where you buy your product, both in the real world and online, as certain Snowboard Stores cater for specialized equipment better than others do.
Determining how much you should spend at the Snowboard Shore is a real issue. It's actually quite easy to initially spend a lot of money on your snowboard equipment. But it doesn't have to be like that - you can get great value with second-hand items on e-Bay for example. So, try and do some research first, look at what seems to be the market value for the products you're looking for, then set yourself a strict budget.
Finally, if all else fails, don't be afraid to ask fellow snowboarders where they bought their gear and whether or not the store was a good one. In most instances you'll find your fellow snowboarders very amiable people always willing to help out.
As a matter of fact one of the largest and cheapest stores online is to be found right here!
