No wax job is complete without a good snowboard wax scraper

To keep your board fast, experts recommend you wax your board after every three uses. To do the job right, you'll need wax and a snowboard wax scraper. What is a snowboard wax scraper? You'll use a snowboard wax scraper to remove the wax once it has cooled on the board. Both plastic and metal scrapers work well. Choose a narrow scraper over a wider version though-narrow scrapers tend to work better at removing wax.

Where can I buy a snowboard wax scraper?

Snowboard wax scrapers are available in stores and at online retailers. Prices vary, so it's wise to shop around and do some price comparisons.

To properly wax your snowboard, in addition to the scraper, you'll also need:

• snowboard wax. Use a snowboard wax that's designed to be applied with a hot iron. All-temperature snowboard wax works well for boards used in most snow conditions.
  
• abrasive pads. These pads are used for buffing the snowboard after waxing and scraping are complete.
  
• vices. You can use vices or book stacks to position and elevate your snowboard for waxing.
  
• old cloths or newspapers. Hot wax will most likely drip off the board during the waxing process. Make sure your floors are well covered.

If you have never used a snowboard wax scraper, ask for help. Your instructor or an expert at your local board shop can give you more detailed instructions and recommend good snowboard equipment to try.
