Base running a little slow? All temperature snowboard wax will get you moving again

If you're new to snowboards, you may not know that your board needs regular waxing. Waxing keeps the base running fast. Experts recommend a fresh coat of hot snowboard wax be applied to your board after every few rides or if your board's base looks dry or is running slow. An all temperature snowboard wax will do the trick.

All temperature snowboard wax and more

Purchase a snowboard wax that's designed to be applied with a hot iron. There are plenty of types of snowboard waxes available, but an all temperature snowboard wax works well for boards used in most snow conditions. To properly wax your snowboard, you'll also need:

• A scraper. You'll use the scraper to remove the wax once it has cooled on the board. Both plastic and metal scrapers work well. Choose a narrow scraper over a wider version though-narrow scrapers tend to work better at removing wax.
  
• An iron. Purchase an iron designed for snowboard waxing. Regular household irons work, too, but an iron designed for snowboard waxing has a smooth bottom, which makes smoothing wax easier.
  
• Abrasive pads. These pads are used for buffing the snowboard after waxing and scraping is complete.
  In addition to the products above, you'll also need a base cleaner if your snowboard's base is dirty.

Before you get started with all temperature snowboard wax

Before you use an all temperature wax on your snowboard, be sure to talk with an expert at your local snowboard shop. He or she can show you the proper steps to take when using hot wax for the first time.
