It's hard to say which part of your snowboarding gear is the most important. Without your snowboard you wouldn't be able to actually do anything. Without your boots and bindings you'd spend more time off your board than on it, and without your snowboarding jacket you'd probably freeze to death long before you ever perfected that Method Air. So, I guess we'll just have to agree that no one particular item is more important than the others. And that poses something of a dilemma because with some much crucial gear to obtain you're going to need to splash out a lot of cash. Youd think the jacket would at least be easy to buy, but believe it or not, a mens snowboarding jacket is far from ordinary these days.
Technology has given the world the internet, cellphones, digital satellite TV, and now it has brought us the snowboarding jacket. Constructed of all manner of hybrid nylons, jackets these days are highly water and wind-resistant while maintaining breathability, feature welded seams, and come in a host of combination products that can be unzipped, detached or reattached as the weather conditions demand. Moreover, you can now even get jackets with built-in iPod functionality, allowing you to control the device from buttons on a module inserted into the sleeve while the device itself rests snugly in a chest pocket. These don't come cheap however, and you can expect to pay in the region of $380. There are of course cheaper jacket options ($60 or so at the really lower-end), but the fact of the matter is that they dont have iPod support, and well, men just love gadgets.
I mean, it has iPod functionality built into it for crying out loud! Is that not just too cool? Okay, so perhaps you don't really NEED a jacket like that, but that still leaves a host of other fantastic snowboarding jackets for you to purchase. Listed below are some of the better known makes you might want to consider:
Oh yeah, it's probably a good idea to stay away from Roxy, Convert, And Protest. The sniggers you get from other snowboarders should tip you off, but just so you're forewarned: those are ladies snowboarding jackets. Certainly not for the likes of a manly man such as yourself. No, sir!
The range of choice is almost too overwhelming and while shopping
for clothes is not something men traditionally enjoy, when it comes
to picking up the perfect
snowboard jacket it can be a lot of fun to compare features
and find one that's right for you. To aid you in your search, we've
assembled links just to the right-hand side of this article that
should get you started (and probably finished!) looking in double-quick
time.
