Acquiring all the necessary snowboarding gear can be a daunting task for newcomers to the sport, and an increasingly expensive one for intermediate and professional riders. Boots and bindings are an integral part of your gear and when it comes to buying these, there is one thing that first-time buyers should be keenly aware of: Always buy your snowboard boots first! The reason for this is that you need to be able to properly fit the bindings to the boots and board, and the different styles of bindings and brands can make this more complicated than it would at first appear. It is also because of this that many retailers offer discount snowboard boots and bindings packages.
The two are inextricably linked; you can't have one without the other. Purchasing them together not only offers an improved price but it also alleviates the hassle and worry of whether or not the boots and bindings will be compatible with one another; a huge bonus for newbie buyers. Burton snowboards for example use a proprietary three-hole design that obviously is not compatible with many other bindings. Something to keep in mind when considering your next purchase. That exception aside, pretty much every binding will fit most every snowboard available.
Again, the old rule of checking out the previous seasons' boots and bindings is a great way to pick up quality (if slightly outdated) equipment at a reasonable price. Shopping around and making a cheap snowboarding boot and binding purchase during the off-season can net you a deal or two, though it may be kinda hard to have to wait around with all your new gear for the snow to pile up! Another thing to consider when price-matching is the bindings features. The lower the price, the more likely that they'll be missing features that make them more comfortable or lighter to wear. Another reason why it's first good to visit a physical retail store in order to determine what you can live without and what may actually be worth the extra few bucks.
In both cases, fit is extremely important; your boots should fit your feet comfortably, and in turn they should fit inside the bindings without being too restrictive or offering too much play. By checking out previous seasons' models and then looking for your cheap snowboard boots and bindings online (after you've tried them out in-store), you should find yourself having saved a fair bit.
And if you still haven't found the right price, you're obviously looking in all the wrong places. Well, the links to the right-side of this article should be able to help with that! Bindings and boots of virtually every conceivable kind and price are all available, and are just a click away!
