North Face Coats – An Overview

After almost forty years in the business, you'd think that The North Face has by now pretty much figured out what makes a good product, and you'd be correct. Although they have a sizeable catalog of offerings for tropical and wintry climes, it is the latter, and more specifically, their Denali range for which they are perhaps most well-known among the more casual set. The North Face coates are available for everything from a mild winter's day to temperatures that are well below freezing. The North Face's coates, which include jackets and vests and full-body suits are categorized according to the following:

Among their waterproof shells range is the Inconceivable Jacket -- maybe so-called because its price is a whopping $429. In all likelihood though, its name is derived from the fact that it's almost impossible to conceive of what it is capable of. Marketed as the warmest, quietest, softest three-layer jacket made by the company, it weighs 726g; is made of Gore-Tex softshell technology; and features durable, waterproof, breathable sealed seam design. The top of the line Snowsports The North Face coat is the Down Apogee Snorkle Jacket, inspired by skier Scot Schmidt. It uses 600-fill goose down for insulation and makes use of bombproof fabric and retails for approximately $549.

As mentioned before, the Denali is the most renowned fleece jacket offered among the The North Face coats sold. The body of this North Face fleece snowboard clothing is comprised of Polartec 300 fleece, while the abrasion areas (shoulders and elbows) are reinforced with laundered 2-ply Supplex nylon. The entire jacket weighs just 727g. Other notable features of the Denali fleece is elastic bound cuffs, two chest pockets (one horizontal right chest; one vertical left chest), hand pockets and zip-in integration with other compatible North Face apparel. By this, it means that you are able to zip the jacket into the inner zipper of a North Face shell and thereby create a single jacket suitable for pretty much all cold weather. Pit zips, something found only in higher end fleece jackets on the market (such as the Denali range) allow body heat to dissipate from your armpits and other heat centers, thereby increasing ventilation to keep you warm yet comfortable throughout.

For Insulated and Triclimate, you might want to look into the $1,000 Himalayan Suit; the self-touted warmest suit on the planet and an expedition classic. It's black and orange color combination means that you'll be noticed by everyone, but the fact that you'd only need it if you were going to the Arctic means there'll be no-one to see you in it. Things return to the much more mundane with the Mountain Life range, soft jackets that retail for around $65. These are multi-purpose, cotton-based garments.

Coats from The North Face, as well as jackets, vests and suits are considered by many to be the ultimate in winter apparel, and to help you make up your mind as to whether or not they're suitable for you, we've gathered together links to great deals, North Face outlets and specials on entire North Face coat ranges and more.
