With all the attention heaped upon The North Face jackets around here, you could be forgiven for thinking that they're just about the only option for your winter and snowboarding related needs. Nothing, of course, could be farther from the truth. As with virtually any aspect of the sport, you have dozens upon dozens of choices from which to make your selection, all of which cater to specific criteria such as price, quality, features, and style. No one single snowboard jacket is perfect in all of these areas, but we guarantee there's something that will get most of the things you want, right. If price is your primary concern, a Convert Snowboard Jacket or their other snowboard apparel may prove to be just the thing for you.
A product of the Columbia Sportswear Company, convert snowboarding jackets are suitable for men, women and kids and can be found for as little as $60. That's half the price of the more favored North Face range. With its beginning all the way back in 1938, Columbia Sportswear Company is today headed by 80 year-old Gert Boyle, while her son, Tim, is President and CEO. Its products are sold in over 50 countries across the globe, are stocked in more than 12,000 stores and owns one flagship store and seven outlets across the US.
For ladies, Convert Snowboard Jacket offers the Slope-style Axiom jacket, a 100% polyester garment with Fuzzy Freaky Pile and nylon 'Urban Canvas' trim. It features two front zippered pockets for your hands and is part of the MTN TRANSIT line of street-style wear offered by the company. Available colors include Jasper Winter White and Abyss Cosmo Blue. At the slightly higher end is the Convert Tera Tango Parka snowboard jacket. Part of the BASE TRX line, this particular jacket retails for around $100. Composed of 100% polyester fleece lining and nylon outer material, it's water resistant, has a radio pocket as well as a 'music' pocket to hold MP3 or portable CD players and a pull-out hood that folds into a collar.
Lest we forget all about the men of the world, Columbia offers Convert Base EQ snowboarding Parkas as well as Pile Driver brands (among others), both of which are in fact snowboarding-specific jackets. Although the MSRP is significantly higher, the former can be found in the region of $100. Like the women's Tera Tango, this jacket is made of 100% polyester and nylon, is water-resistant, has a chin guard and articulated elbow. Moreover, the Convert Snowboard Jacket features zippered underarm vents, sealed seams, radial sleeves and a fold-away hood. The Pile Driver parka features the same 100% nylon outer material but is composed of 78% polyester/22% acrylic lining. The insulation is 100% polyester. All this makes for a Convert snowboarding jacket you should consider.
