Arbor are, as their name would more than likely lead you to believe, an environmentally conscious company who have carved a niche (if you'll excuse the pun) for themselves in the snowboarding market over the years. In fact, 2005 represents the tenth anniversary of Arbor, having been founded all the way back in 1995 by Bob Carlson and Chris Jensen. This also means that the company has launched ten product lines in that time period; of which the Arbor snowboard S series is of course but one. At the core (another bad pun, sorry) of Arbor's business philosophy of using environmentally friendly natural technologies is the wood topsheet technology, something that improves board performance as well as durability. And in the time since, technologies such as Diamondwood reinforced rails and Bamboo topsheets have been among the innovations used in the company's boards.
Moreover, Arbor commit to giving back to the environment, being conscientious about the use of wood in their products, like the Arbor Snowboarding S Serie and using sustainable forest products. Now that all the tree-hugging business is out of the way -- we kid, of course; just make sure to not actually 'hug' a tree when snowboarding -- let's take a look at all this lovely wood technology, shall we?
The Arbor S-Series snowboard is a freeride board, and is in fact touted as the 'ultimate freeride' snowboard. It's Arbor's stiffest snowboard and as such provides superb edge control. The topsheet of the Arbor Snowboarding S Serie is made up of a Walnut centre stripe, Hawaiian Koa rails, and two Maple stringers; a full-length wood topsheet you're sure to be proud of. Of course, the S-Series Arbor snowboard isn't the only thing to come out of the company. Below is a breakdown of their current product line:
All the Arbor snowboards, also the Arbor Snowboarding S Serie feature a two-year warranty and guarantee that the board will be free of defects in the material or the workmanship for at least that period. But in order to keep your board in tip-top shape, Arbor recommends a few easy-to-perform maintenance tips. Use a polish to buff out scratches and scuffs; a scratch remover or rubbing compound can be used for more acute dings and scrapes followed by a polish or wax. Lastly, it's possible to sand the board using 220 grit sandpaper. After sanding the damaged areaof a Arbor Snowboarding S Serie, Arbor suggests applying a UV-resistant urethane-based coating such as Varathane. Once dry, sand the area again and apply an additional layer of coating. Finally, wet sand or polish the area and wax it up to create a nice, glossy finish.
